Shocking facts about Incense Sticks

Do you know that the first incense stick came into existence in 2000 BC? Or the fact that it was the Chinese who introduced it? Or the word incense is actually derived from Latin, and it means – to burn?

There are several such facts which make incense sticks so very interesting and fascinating. Although the ancient Chinese and Indians believed that incense is one way to connect humans to the spiritual world, these sticks have evolved from their primary use. Today, they are used for several other purposes, including just circulating positive energy and relaxing atmosphere inside the house.

For instance, Hem sticks, such as citronella or camphor are some herbs mostly used in the sticks, and have bug repellent properties. The smell of sandalwood or other herbs used in Tibetian incense sticks or the Japanese ones offer medical properties too. They not only have the power to calm a disturbed mind, but can relieve congestions in the chest too, if appropriate ingredients are used in them. Incense sticks come in a wide variety of fragrances and offer unlimited choices to the buyers.

However, all is not rosy and beautiful in the world of incense.
